What is an ideal candidate for weight loss surgery?

How do I know weight loss surgery is the way to go?

  • Im 5'5 and weigh 240 pounds. My BMI is 41.2 which means I'm excessively obese. I've really tried dieting and exercise, but I have a hormone condition that makes weight loss EXTREMELY hard. I have trouble breathing at times, I feel my knees getting weak, and I am starting to have issues with my breathing while I sleep, I feel as if I'm suffocating when I lay on my back. Is it time for me to consider weight loss surgery? Any tips? Thanks in advanced! :)

  • Answer:

No, having weight loss surgery isn't going to make you feel healthier. You're still going to be extremely out of shape. I'm 5'7, my starting weight was 258 pounds. I'm currently 221 pounds and working my *** off to keep losing weight. Losing weight is hard, FOR EVERYBODY. Its all about determination and a positive attitude. Anybody who has to get surgery to lose weight are lazy in my eyes, and if they are so heavy they cant even move then their even lazier for not doing something about it sooner. (There ARE some people who have health problems that really actually do prevent them from losing weight at all, but 99% of the time its just an excuse and sorry but a hormone condition that makes it harder to lose weight doesn't make it impossible. You just need to work twice as hard.)
