Is getting into a CUNY difficult?
-
right now i'm in florida and when i graduate i'm planning on moving back to new york. i want to live there for a year after i graduate and just get a full-time job and basically save all of my money that entire year. and after i live there for a year and become a new york resident, i plan on going to dutchess community college to get my academics out of the way. but as for my major i want to obtain it from a CUNY. i want to either go to: brooklyn college hunter college queens college or city university of new york (not staten island college, i heard that one sucks) but what is the average gpa of people who actually get accepted to any of the colleges i listed? and any additonal information about any of these schools will be appreciated (especailly if you want best answer=p)

Answer:
Not really that difficult. If your GPA is in the 3.2-3.5 range you are set. Especially for Brooklyn college. Hunter is a little more difficult, but just a flat-out better school. If I were you I'd apply to: Hunter, Brooklyn, Baruch. Those are the three best in my opinion. Please note*** Brooklyn college (and I'm assuming this may be true of Hunter and Baruch) has a LOT of prereqs. They call them 'core classes' - 9 in total for freshman and sophomore (ranging from math and bio to political science and philosophy) and 2 for juniors and seniors. Add on to that at least 3 semesters of a language to fulfill the language requirement. Doesn't sound like much, but is extremely annoying at times. Especially if you already know what you want to do. And it doesn't matter if you are coming from another college - you'll still need to take all those classes unless you took a similar one at your other school.

Estimate your chances of getting accepted at any particular school using the Cappex “What are my chances?” calculator. http://www.cappex.com Check student reviews of colleges by Googling the words "student reviews" and the names of the schools you are interested in (one at time). Also try Googling just the name of each school by itself. Then click where it says “Google reviews.” Also check out: http://www.usnews.com/education http://www.princetonreview.com/college-education.aspx To find appropriate colleges use https://bigfuture.collegeboard.org/college-search http://www.collegeconfidential.com/college_search/ Learn about professors http://www.ratemyprofessors.com/ You can often find out about on-campus housing at http://www.dormspash.com You can find out about fraternities and sororities at http://www.greekrank.com more college admissions info https://sites.google.com/site/paul7collegeinfo/
