Does a medical assistant with an associates degree make more than a certified medical assistant with no degree?

Does a Certified Nursing Assistant need a degree or to be registered?

  • I'm just graduating highschool and I want a job this summer that can save me as much money as possible for college. Am I the kind of person who is eligible for a Certified Nursing Assistant? Or is there a degree and education and things already required?

  • Answer:

You have to be certified. I do not think the certificate takes long to earn ,however it will take longer than summer. There are jobs at a hospital that you do not need to be certified for . Like transportation. ( pushing the patients from place to place) Hope I helped.

The above answers are wrong. To become a Certified nursing assistant you do need a certificate, but it do not take 2 years. You can go to a tech school and pay for a class or a local college that offers the course. It can take anywhere from 1 semester of college to 9 months (tech school). it depends where you go. You will be taking care of patients. getting Vital signs, assisting patients with positioning, and pretty much helping the nurses out You can make anywhere from 9 to 12 dollars an hour, but it is a tough job sometimes. Make sure you like working with people directly.

Taylor is right, you do need a certification. The program I took was about 9 weeks long (less than one semester) and then you take your certification from the class if you pass it and you go and take a state test and get certified through the state. If you don't go to the state test you will not be eligible for employment. Normally the class you take will give you all the info you need to go and take the state test :) The class I took also gave a pamphlet of the things you will be tested on and such. You'll take a written test and a hands on test (things you learn in the clinical part of training). It's not hard, and it doesn't take very long and many places are looking to hire for CNA's. You can easily find a class at a college during the summer to take your cna training and such and possibly get tested through your state by the end of summer and find employment in the fall/winter time.

They have to be "certified". They must be trained and pass standardized testing. Many high schools have training programs. It takes about two years to become trained and certified.
