Is My Hermit Crab Asleep or Just Dead?

Can you feed a dead hermit crab to your living hermit crabs?

• I've had hermit crabs for a long time now, I know that this is NOT a moulting crab. My dead crab died in an iso tank. He was relocated to the iso tank because he was moulting and then I guess something just went wrong. It was in good condition (ie, humidity/heat) He had everything he needed I'm not really sure what went wrong, but I'm not worried about that. Thought I'd throw that info in there to show he wasn't necessarily sick. I'm just wondering if the calcium from the dead crab would be good for my living crabs, or if that's too weird and socially frowned upon. :)

  i don't know if it is socially frowned upon but considering you do not know what killed that crab, why on earth would you then consider it food ... i know hermit crabs are scavengers and will cannibalize other hermit crabs, but they usually kill the hermit crab and then eat it ... if it were my crabs, i would not feed them one that is deceased ... if you want to up the calcium consumption crush up some egg shells or buy some crushed oyster shells ...
