Why can't I change my screen resolution?

Cant change windows 8 screen resolution?

  • My monitor is samsung 20 inch led monitor my normal screen resolution in windows 7 is 1600*900 but when i have installed windows 8 it makes screen resolution 1024*768 and dont allow me to change it. What should i do to make my resolution 1600*900 in windows 8?

  • Answer:

Judging that you have made a fresh install of windows 8 you might not have installed all the drivers necessary, in your case the video drivers. Search up on the video adapter info like the brand and model and download the drivers that correspond. Otherwise, you will need to go and install important windows updates. This generally corrects the problem. To do it go to start>in the search box type "windows update" it should pop up in the right pane> and follow the installing and download steps. Once installed and restarted it should be automatically adjusted to the maximum resolution, if not simply change it and it will be recognised.
