Would you write a negative review?

I hired an electrician company to change my electric baseboard heater. I needed the one done in a few days. They charge $40 to come out and look. If you hire them they will put that money to the total bill. Well, being at my home now, I told him that if I buy the heater (about $120) how much to fit it. He told me that he could get me a deal on the heater and the installation will be $384. I said but if I get the heater it will save me how much. He said I would save about $30 on the total bill. Well, i new that was not true. On the invoice he put numbers all through the paper and screeched them out, with the discount, making it look like im getting a deal. I do know that trick about making it look like you are getting a deal with the new lower prices they offer. He went on to tell me some other bull about how he has been doing a lot of heater units in the spring and I could not get a better deal on the unit itself. I know that was another lie, even after i told him i could get one for 120 I called around after he left, me buying the part, one company will charge me 142.00 and the other 160.00. I called the first one back (the 384) to complain about the rip off on the bill. I informed them of the other companies cost. I told them $242 and $260 if i buy the part and with them it was 384 with the part. I went on to say i was going to write a review on google and better business bureau (all of the companies are with bbb) due to them trying to rip me off. They said if i do not write a review they would refund the $40 buck, only if i promise them i would not write one. Well i got the money back, but would you write a review on a company that tried to rip you off when you needed them most, and after you promised you wouldn't. All three companies have high ratings on google review and bbb. So would you write a review, to try warn other of them trying to take advantage of people who need help now. There was more he said that made me question but this is the main idea Thanks i do pick one person for helping Much appreciated

Answer:
I'm sorry but you should have called around first before having the first company even attempt to do any work. Legally there isn't anything they can do about you writing a bad review. I would give them the $40 back and tear them a new one in the review. $40 can seem like a lot, but I bet they'd crap their pants if you called them up and said 'No, it's okay you keep the $40 I'm going to write the review'. See what they do then...

The first mistake you made was paying them to come out. Most companies WANT the business and will give a free quote. I write bad reviews all the time when I get bad service.
