Vauxhall Corsa 1.4 SXI - What is SXI/16v and what does it do to my car?

• I've just traded my car in - Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 Breeze - for pretty much the exact same however its a Vauxhall Corsa 1.4 16v SXi. I read somewhere that an SXi is 'Sports Extra Injection' - but that means nothing to me. What does an SXi do to my car and what does 16v mean. I'm did a trade in on my car because I wanted to go from a 1.2 to a 1.4 just to hopefully make my car a bit more nippier and not so draggy on the motorway when i have people in it... Any help would be appreciated for me to understand. I'm picking my new car up from Vauxhall on Sunday. Thanks!

  Going from 1.2 to 1.4 DOES mean more power ONLY when it comes from the same family of engines. SXi is a trim level, you can get SRi also etc. Sport Extra Injection means nothing to me either because it sounds silly and makes no sense (except from the sport and the injection bit. there is nothing extra about it. these are other peoples thoughts you're finding on the internet. It's not much faster than a 1.2 to be perfectly honest with you. it'll probably be as economical too if you don't drive like an idiot. 16V means 16 valves, all this means it there are 2 camshafts and twice as many valves as an 8V verson of your engine. it gives the car more power at high revs although torque in the low range is sacrificed a little bit.
