I think it really depends on where you live and what sort of things interest you... The beach is always a great place to spend the day if you're on the coast (it's a hell of a lot cheaper than paying to queue at a waterpark), but there are still heaps of other ways to keep yourself entertained. These are some of the things I've done with friends in the past: - Movie marathons at home (we each choose a movie to rent that everyone generally agrees upon and then make microwave popcorn). Maybe even a drive-in movie, if you've never gone to one before?? - Board games / party games (sounds kind of boring, but if you do a quick google search and choose something interactive then it works for a larger group). - Home-made cooking (print off a recipe for choc-chip cookies, everyone'll probably want to get involved even just to lick the spoon). It's always interesting to see the outcome of experimental cooking, especially if you manage to come up with your own recipe to keep for later. - Competitive team games. If you've got a ball, you could go for a game of football in the yard- winners get to have the cookies + bragging rights. - Make something (whether it's using detergent to make bubbles, drawing, painting, building a fort out of pillows and blankets). When my brother and I were kids we used to have competitions to see who could build the biggest / better fort out of blankets and pillows and sheets and things. - Go camping (at an actual site or even just in the backyard) - Visit parks or other public areas (have a picnic, or walk the dog if you have one). - Arrange for the kids to meet up with a friend a couple of times (a play date) - Play video games, watch TV or videos on Youtube - Local Activities (Most communities have some sort of holiday program laid out for kids during vacations, and are generally quite cheap). - Gardening around the house. Everyone could plant a tree / flower of their choice and have to look after it? It gives them a goal over the summer, at least.. - Read a book (A lot of kids might not be too keen on this, but you never know. You could use the spare time to learn a new skill?) I'm sorry if this was kind of old-fashioned or unhelpful, but those are just some suggestions off the top of my head if you really don't want to part with any cash. Even without an expensive event in mind, it's good to get out of the house sometimes. Perhaps you could do a quick google search of other things to do if nothing's appealing to you? Good luck! :)

Library- many have reading programs you can sign up the older kids and younger ones often they have story time and programs for FREE! Park- best free thing ever created to burn up energy also Free. Your local school district- may have some in cheap summer camps they run for some of the kids and the YMCA I think ( or YWCA) runs camps and sometimes has free scholarships you have to fill out application to see if your kids are eligible so call soon if you want to send some of your kids. Your back yard- ( if u have or relatives) We love using the hose in the yard ( if you have) and the kids can make water slides with a cheap tarp or you can buy cheap ones at the dollar store. The kids have put up our old tent ( or maybe you can borrow one) and have camped out in the yard- we got some hot dogs and marsh mellow etc. for a fun camping adventure. Also state parks have free camping or some campgrounds are pretty cheap and have pools and stuff included ( depending on where you live) they have a ton of things to do- go to their web sites. Crafts are a good way to keep kids busy during the summer- many sites online list pretty cheap supplies and ideas. Just doing a picnic at the park and letting the kids help pack up what they want is also a very cheap thing and if you stretch out some of these activities and are organized it can keep them REALLY BUSY! Of course you probably know about the organized part already with all them kids! GOOD LUCK And have a good SUMMER!
