Bank Id for new costumer?

This is a lot I know but I think it's better to explain the full story rather than brief detail. When I first tried to open an account when i was 17 with Natwest/Santander (Abby national at the time) I went with my mother and we had all the requirements however, When they looked through our documents they said they couldn't accept it for it wasn't the full birth certificate of mine as me and my mother both have different last names and it would require the full birth certificate to have both our names on it. So after some deliberation me and my mother decided to leave it at that and try again a few months later I then go went when i was 18 with the still the short birth certificate (because @ between 18-20 Natwest say you can use it and it wouldn't need to have your mothers name on it). However, they rejected again for although i had the identity requirement, I failed to supply a proof of address even though my medical card stated the address I have lived at since i was born. So still aggravated i left it at that and decided to try later on I then came back several times between ages 18 and 19 with various types (for my mother refused to add me to a utility bill) and yet they still refused but instead, this reason being for still not supplying the correct form of proof of address, but this time saying that either my college letter never contained my full name (i have a ridiculous long name), not being addressed to the bank manager or for it being written out as well as not being with one of the colleges registered on UCAS (was studying at general colleges not university level). as well as this i also tried putting my name on the voting list yet for some reason they couldn't find me on the system yet, when i checked the registry book in the library, it contained my name. so again coming back annoyed I brushed it off and waited till another time. Now that i'm 20, and urgently need to open an account before i go to university i decided to try again, this time with a provisional licence and phone bill (hardline not mobile). This time i tried Halifax (natwest saying the branch I was at was fully booked for appointments till June for new accounts) a different bank but this time decided to see front line member of staff first, as you can probably guess, she said that they wouldn't accept my provisional for it didn't have my full name spelled out, I then argued that, that is not true for when I filled out the form there wasn't enough space available to write out my full name so I had no choice but to abbreviate 2 of the middle names to their first letter initials, as well as this I had used my birth certificate with it and if the DVLA office had thought it wasn't an appropriate match would have rejected my form and if need be can supply the same birth certificate i used to apply for it. She then diverts the question and asks if i have a passport, I said no for I haven't traveled out of the country and have yet a need for one, as well as this, she also stated that my bill was internet printed and needed to be sent by post to me. Yet again suppressing my new rage for banks I left and will try again possible with another bank. I am reaching my wits end with these and being to build a hated even more for banks than before which is completely unnecessary as it seems to me they're just trying to push me out the door all the time. so my current aims are to try and open an account with my provisional licence and my phone bill. Is there any advise that anyone has to offer that will help me to finally open a bank account so I can finally start working and go to university. Will it be fine using the provisional licence even though i had no choice but to initialize 2 of my middle names I have no plans in getting a passport for it is completely unnecessary just to attain one for this purpose as well as not having the funds available. Someone please help :( Note: *The student accounts are only for Students studying their first, second or third year at university or have a unconditional placement

Answer:
Short answer: YOU need to ASK several banks EXACTLY waht is and is not acceptable. Your problem so far is you keep ASSUMING you know what is acceptable, and they keep informing you your are WRONG. Regardless of what ANYONE tells you online, ONLY the back that is actually looking at your documents is capable or giving you a correct answer. Even if you have every document ever created bearing your name OR address, the bank is NOT requitred to accept ANY of it.

i openened my barclays account when i was 14, there should be a list of supported Identification methods, both for name/Identity and for address. this is for natwest, http://www.natwest.com/personal/current-accounts/g2/id-required.ashx they have one for forms of ID and another for forms of address.
