What are some good first jobs for a 16 year old?

Best "first" jobs for a 16 year old?

  • I just turned 16 and have no work experience whatsoever. Well, i do volunteer at the library every week but anways... I don't know where I should apply first. Everyone's telling me to work at McDonald's because it's my first time and they'd hire me. However, I'd really like to work at a country club nearby instead but others are telling me that they won't hire me because i don't have experience. What are some other potential good jobs for a 16 year old?

Just apply at the Country Club. It wouldn't hurt and you or nobody really knows for sure wither or not you will get hired there. My first job when I was 16 was a Bagger at a Supermarket. You can do that. Or you could stock shelves or run the cash register at a Supermarket or at a Department Store. Well I don't think they hire Baggers at a Department Store, but you can work in the fitting room or the back hanging up cloths to be brought out in the Store or run the cash register. You can work at a Book Store. You already volunteer at the library every week. So that would work in your favor when you apply at a Book Store. Fast Food Restaurants are crap and very stressful to work at and very boring at times too. Save the Fast Food Restaurants as a last resort. If you really want a job. Ps. Calling an Employer a week after you applied and saying Hello my name is, I filled out application for the position of, and I was wondering if you had a change to look over my application and if I could come in and meet you and talk to you about the job. Giving a call back wouldn't hurt and might better your chances of getting hired.

The average 16 year old will have to put in 15-20 applications before they get hired. It's not like you'll walk in somewhere, fill out the application and then they'll call you and let you know if they want to hire you or not. Most of the time you put in an application, but you'll never get a call back. I say that you should go ahead and put in an application at the country club. You never know if a place if hiring or not! You could get lucky! You should apply to places like: -Fast Food -Retail and grocery stores -Places at the mall Your best chances of getting a job quick are in these areas.
