What do I need to do to get into competitive karting?

How do I get into competitive go karting?

  • Hi all- I'm currently 16 years old (turning 17 in July) and I'd like to know how to get into go karting competitively. I've had the opportunity to drive a couple of really fast karts and I had more fun then I ever though possible, and I was actually pretty good at it. I have a pretty good knack for when the car/kart is going to lose grip, I always have. So, basically what I'm wondering is where do I even start to get into this? I dont know how to work on them, but I'm pretty smart and I can generally figure those things out. I love working on all of those kinds of things. I currently play club soccer (~$3000 a year) so I figure I will trade that out for go karting. Can anybody tell me where I go, how to start, what to buy, and all of that? And an estimate of how much it will cost? I live in the Dallas, TX area by the way. Thanks!

    Basically all you have to do is join a Karting Club in your area then buy your Kart and go racing. If you contact them they will have a better idea of the costs. It will depend on what class you want to race in. You can always start out in used equipment. Check Racing Junk . com.
