Is it okay for a girl to ask a guy to prom?

  • So me and my best guy friend have been friends for the past 5 years, and I think I might be starting to like him. Anyway, my prom is in a month and I still don't have a date. I was thinking about going with my guy friend but 1) I don't know if he likes me and 2) I don't want to be the one to ask, because I'm extremely bad at it. He's the shy type, so I doubt he's even going to ask me. My friends have told him to ask me, but all he's said to them is "I will", which was like a month ago. So, basically, the only alternative right now is for me to ask him. Does anyone think that's a good idea, or should I wait for him to ask? And if you guys have any cute ideas for me to ask him, that'd be great (:

    why do you think that it is not ok for a girl to ask a guy to prom? its 2012, not 1985. Write him a note or a letter. Something physical always give a long lasting memory. Dont worry if he like you or not, chances are he like your personality that is why he has been friends with you for 5 years, be confident that he do like you, he is just too shy to tell you. He might be wondering the same thing but he is not sure if you like him or not, chances are much higher than he would like you back when a girl ask a guy. Just be honest and clear about prom, playing games with shy guy is just stupid.

Awh how cute. YEAH, it's totally fine. I asked a guy I didn't know that well to prom, and he said yes. :] Anyhow I think you should make the first move. I have a friend who is similar to yours - he won't initiate the first move cause he's afraid of getting rejected. So yes I think you should make the move. Who cares if he doesn't like you in that manner? You can go as friends, a lot of people do that. OH snap I have ideas! 1. Put a note in his locker & take him on a scavenger hunt. 2. Put a puzzle piece in his locker, and give him hints and when he finds all the puzzle pieces it will spell something similar to : PROM W/ ME? :) 3. Go with the traditional sign thing. 4. Have your friends make t shirts and then wear them on a certain day and show him. 5. During a power point presentation, ask your teacher to slip in a slide. Just some genius ideas the people at my school thought of. :] Have fun & good luck.
