  • I know you can sign some papers and BINGO BANGO you're married, but I dont know much about this subject.

    I looked in the phone book for someone to marry us. When I called I told them no religion mumbo jumbo talk was to be used at my wedding and there was none. We rented the community center. It worked out great!

The same way everybody else does. The contents of the marriage vows can vary greatly, but basically all they need to say is that they take the other for their spouse. A religious service is not necessary, although atheists can be married in spiritual celebrations at places like a Unitarian Universalist church. My husband and I got married in a non-denominational wedding chapel, and we wrote our own vows. All in all, it's not much different than the way that theists get married.

no offense to any athiests getting married, but i almost think this is a sort of contradiciton. Marriage is a kind of spiritual, religous ceremony and atheism is the choice to live life without any regards to spirtuality or religion...so why marriage?

marriage is a legal thing and ONLY religious if you make it this way you can get married w/o religion,but you cannot get married with religion w/o doing the legal things involved

They can either get married by a Justice of the Peace in a civil ceremony or in many areas a civil Celebrant can be used.
