How to stop my braces from hurting?

• Okay, I've had my braces for about a year and a half. When they tighten them every 10 weeks, it never hurts that much. When I got them on, I don't remember them hurting as much as they do now! The orthodontist put 4 new brackets on 4 teeth that have grown in. (adult teeth). I don't want to take medicene because it never helps! I have school tomorrow too, and my braces usually hurt more on the next day. So, what should I do to keep them from hurting? I'm eating soft foods, and trying not to play with the wire. Also, I play the flute and I'm in Band. Will I be able to play my flute tomorrow? Thanks so much! Little Miss Ballet Dancer(:

  I suggest sucking on ice or putting ice on your teeth. My teeth are SUPER sensitive to ice, but when they hurt like hell, ice felt amazing... And even though you think it doesn't work, i think you should try getting some strong ibuprofen for the other times you get you're braces tightened. Using that, and other things makes it a lot easier... Origel, ice, and ibuprofen i guess are good... Ive used "kanka" before, which numbs my mouth. It tastes sort of bad, and it doesnt numb for that long. Just stick with the pain, kid;) If your not willing to try everything else. There isn't really any magical cure to taking the pain away. It goes away in about 3-5 days.
