How do I ask a girl out on facebook?

  • There was a girl I used to really like back in high school. We had a lot in common and I had always wanted to ask her out but she was always in a relationship. We ended up going to different colleges that are pretty close together, but I've mostly lost touch with her since we graduated from high school; however, I am still friends with her on facebook and I've noticed that she is currently single. I would really like to take the opportunity to ask her out but I'm not sure how to go about doing it. I would prefer to do it either in person or over the phone, but unfortunately the only option I really have to reach her is through facebook. It seems like it would be really awkward asking her out over facebook, especially considering how long it's been since I last talked to her, so what would be a good way of doing it?

You could ask her out over FB, but I think you should start by catching up first. Ask her how shes doing, how shes liking school,etc.. then you could make a point of chatting w/ her via instant messaging or texting. If it seems like she is opening up to you, you could casually ask her to grab coffee or something one day or hang out. Or if not then have a party and invite her and her friends or something. If that goes well then say you want to buy her dinner sometime (so that she gets that its a date). What i mean to say is, dont just randomly message her and say hey i notice your single wanna go out?...its kinda desperate.
