Summer programs for universities?

Grants for High School Enrichment Programs?

  • I have high school freshmen identical twins who are exceptionally bright. Both have IQs in the 140's, both have 4.0 GPA, and they have each been offered a summer internship at a UC school (one in engineering and one in neuroscience). They both have so much potential but, because we are a low income family, they are unable to participate any of the many enrichment programs available to children of wealthy parents (i.e. summer programs at universities, college courses at universities, summer abroad programs, and many volunteer programs). Does anyone know of a financial assistance program or grants that may be available to us?

  • Answer:

Here is some information about summer programs and financial aid available at different UC campuses: 1. UCLA Summer Institutes: http://www.summer.ucla.edu/institutes/GeneralInfo/finaid.htm 2. UC Davis Pre-college and educational opportunity programs: http://admissions.ucdavis.edu/admission/freshmen/fr_precollege_programs.cfm 3. UC Berkeley Incentive Awards Program (assistance for enrolling college students) http://campuslife.berkeley.edu/iap You may also want to consider talking to the office of admissions and see if they offer any summer programs or institutes that are geared towards low-income or under-privileged students.
