Should I wear a suit to every job interview?

Should I still wear a suit for a job interview if my employer tells me to dress casually?

  • I've applied to an engineering internship and my employer emailed me that she is interested in arranging an interview and said "dress casually and leave your suit at home". What is the appropriate thing to do? I never heard of a job interview with casual dress code.

  • Answer:

I would do as she suggested....that does not mean you come dressed in a ratty t-shirt and jeans though. Arrive dressed in a nice dress shirt and pants...no tie

If my employer told me to leave my suit at home, I would listen to her. What I would do is dress nice but not in a suit and tie. But don't show up in shorts and a T-shirt.

I would assume that your employer knows best in regards to how to dress for the interview. If you were told to dress casually I would do so. Wear slacks, a shirt with a collar and dress shoes.

Hello, For my part, I would go with what the employer said, ie, with casual dress code. This is surely not a trap.
