Should I sell my PS3 and TV to get a gaming PC?
-
I currently have a PS3 and I mostly play Battlefield 3 on it at the moment. I bought a new PS3 along with 22' Samsung TV not too long ago. I really want to get into PC gaming, Ive been interested in MMOs, RTS and PC FPS counterpart which is the definitive platform for FPS. After looking into all these options, PC is the way to go. I want to build a decent gaming rig possibly for $500. In order to do that, I have to sell my PS3 + games and TV. I definitely won't be playing PS3 once next gen console releases, so 2 years will be the most I will be gaming on it, I probably won't get a lot of money by selling it either. Is it worth it?

Answer:
Well you're going to need a monitor and it wouldn't be possible to build a gaming PC and buy a monitor for $500. I do think however it wouldn't be a bad move to sell and build a PC though. You're gonna need a little more than $500 if you don't have Windows 7 though since that's $100 by itself unfortunately. Here's the thing. Yes it's worth it. If you build it youself, which is pretty easy. All the parts and wiring of a computer is set up really simply and everything is labeled. You could probably build a decent PC for maybe $550 without Windows 7. (if you have means of getting it somehow that would help you immensely.) If you buy a pre built you get off brand parts and lower specs which is never a good thing. So if you don't mind some video links look at these: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPIXAtNGGCw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_56kyib-Ls http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RxaVBsXEiok Newegg TV has great videos concerning everything PC, you can learn a lot from watching them and there are tons of PC forums on the internet where you can ask questions should you need to. And good places to buy parts are Newegg.com and TigerDirect.com. Alternatively, if you have a MicroCenter near where you live I hear they have really cheap prices on parts, unfortunately there's none near me. Computers are easy to work with if you put in just a couple hours of watching videos to learn the basics. Plus PC games are sooo much cheaper than console games, if you make the switch you will be able to easily own 3-4x the amount of games you own now for PS3 if you shop well. There are new sales everyday. So high entry price, but you end up saving a lot in games. Sorry about this giant wall of text, I ramble.
