Is being a CNA worth it?

What it like being a male CNA? What can I expect out of my CNA class?

  • I'm a 21 yr old guy that's enrolling in a CNA course this coming Monday if all goes well. I have no idea how difficult the CNA classes are but given the fact that I've been in college for the past 3 years and am quite used to Anatomy and a vigorous work scheadule, any intense studying that may be involved in CNA training I should be able to embrace. Anyhow-- I'm not sure where I'm going to apply to work after I'm done with this or if I'll even like this job. I'm giving them 900 bucks tomorrow cause it's a state-certified program recognized by my state which is necessary for the Nursing program at my college. I sure hope I'll like it. I work in fast food and have for the past year. I'm just so sick of that job that just about any job sounds better than there. So I think I'm pretty used to working hard and not getting paid very much if thats what being a CNA entails. At least I'll earn more than min wage though.

  • Answer:

I have heard female CNA's ***** about the males, seems you end up being the "muscle" wherever you work, restraining people, turning over obese people so you end up being the most wanted employee. Was listening to a story on Public Radio, ex truck driver had become a CNA after getting laid off and he regretted never trying it earlier.
