How can I get rid of my Ingrown Toenail?

• Okay I've had an ingrown toenail for a month now. I have been to the doctors within the first week of getting it and he told me to cut the nail. I did this and it grew back and became even more painful to the point where I could not reach the ingrown nail and the pain was too overwhelming. So a week ago I went to the Doctors again and this time he said that I should leave the Ingrown toenail as it will grow out in time and he also said the surgery which I could take could be helpful temporarily but Ineffective in the future as it may come back. He also prescribed me with antibiotics in-case of infection. I haven't seen any improvements in my toe however the pain is decreasing. I do take medicine to combat the pain. What should I do about my toe, because although I know the Doctor said is crucial, many other people and sites and also sources have said to cut the nail or get surgery.   Go to a podiatrist. podiatrists are doctors who specialize in feet. I've had infected ingrown toe nails a couple of times. I went to a good podiatrist and he took good care of my toe. He cleaned it up and cut it. Try to avoid a deep toe nail cut that requires anesthesia if you can. I got the toe nail cut that doesn't require anesthesia. Make sure to ask about prices too, because podiatrist are often not covered by insurance. it should be no more than $60 or $70 to get you toe nail fixed.
