Problems with finding original network on windows 7?
-
My computer loses internet connection sometimes, and it is always spontaneous and random. That is not the problem I want to address however. The problem I wish to address is connected to that though. Normally, when I lose connection like that, I can just restart my computer, put it in sleep, turn it off, or even just step away for a little bit, and when I try to recconect, it works. Recently, that wasn't enough. I began having my pc forget the network information, and then I would attempt to connect, re-enter the security details, and then it would work. Then one time when I attempted to reconnect, the home network name had the number 2 at the end of it. I struggled to connect to the network again ( I knew it was the same one I had been using) after connecting, my signal was bad, but it worked. I did that once or twice more, but then it stopped working, after fiddling around with my computer, it found the network again, only now the name is followed by a 2 and then a 3. My computer will not connect to the network, even though it is the same one with a different name, even after I re-enter the security information. How do I get back to the original wifi network I started in, and what is a reliable way to recconect after disconnecting suddenly like that? Any other information I should know, any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Answer:
Try deleting all your LAN connections and start with a new one. Let your computer detect and assign the numbering.

Have you ever thought you have one of those mischeivious infections? Window 7 has a long memory, I have uninstall programs for a month and then reinstalled it and it still remembers the key, having said that. I would try a system restore to a time when this didn't happen, Windows 7 System Restore has the potential to remove infections, Scan in safe mode with Malware Bytes, select with Networking so if you can download MBAM if you don't already have it? Worse case scenario is to reformat drive and start again, so back is a given?Keeping drivers upto date is also a given? It could be a loose connection also? Make sure all cables are homed correctly and a firm fit, Check the obvious first before you get tied in a knot.
