How to reduce redness on face?

How can I reduce redness on my face?

  • I have clear skin (no acne), no inflammation, I just have some redness on my cheeks, nose & forehead sometimes. I was using the L'Oreal green primer, but that didn't work. I heard that rubbing an ice on my face after washing it works, but how is that? How does ice take away redness? Any suggestions would help either makeup tips or remedies. Thanks.

Hi. I would suggest putting a wet towel in the freezer for about 2-4 minutes. Take it out and put it on your face. The coldness in the towel will reduce any broken capillaries and swelling on your face.

A red face is caused by several things. The most common reasons are rosacea, allergies, or sun damage. Each reason typically has its own treatment. It is recommended to seek medical advice as to the underlying cause of your facial redness, but if you wish, you can still use home remedies for red face problems. How Do I Treat Rosacea from Home? While trying to cure rosacea from home is not a likely goal, treating the redness and minimizing its appearance is completely viable. There are several things you may do at home to help your rosacea. Applying lotions that list green tea, chrysanthellum indicum, or niacinamide as ingredients when you wake up and before going to bed may greatly reduce the appearance of your redness. Anti-inflammatory products, such as feverfew, have been proven to help many sufferers of rosacea. Moreover, a collection of products, Eucerin Redness Relief by Beiersdorf, has clinical evidence that it may reduce the red face appearance long-term. If your redness is not Rosacea, but the result of an allergy or a reaction to the sun, there are many at-home remedies available to you. It is best to switch to a nonabrasive face wash that is meant for sensitive skins. Using hypoallergenic products may also help reduce the appearance of a red face. Sun screen for sensitive skin is also recommended for those who suffer from redness caused by sun damage. There are tinted sun blocks available to immediately cover the redness of your face as it heals, which is a personal favorite as far as home remedies for red face go.
