How do I measure how loud a car audio system is?

Infant car seat no middle latch in BMW 528i?

  • They say you should use middle latches if you want to put the infant car seat in the middle but the BMW only has 4 latches. I read that if you just have to measure the distance and it should be around 11 inches, so it might be ok to put it in the middle. Does anyone know if BMW made the latches so you can install it in the middle with the latch system also?

  • Answer:

latch can only be used in the center seating position of your vehicle if your vehicle owner manual says SPECIFICALLY that it can be used in the center. Car seats may let you use latch if the spacing is a certain distance apart AND if the manual allows it. The lower anchors on the outboard seating positions are reinforced by a metal beam going across. http://www.thecarseatlady.org click on the link to the left that says LATCH- it has a TON of info about the latch system (and a ton of info about car seats) The center seating position is about 43% safer than the outboard seating positions in the back seat. It is perfectly acceptable to install a car seat in the center with the seat belt. the latch system doesn't make it safer. choose the best place for your car seat that gets the best fit http://www.seatcheck.org/ Car crashes are the leading cause of both disability and death for kids under the age of 12. Please, I cannot emphasize enough to get your seat checked- statistics show that 95% of child safety seats are used or installed incorrectly. it should be absolutely FREE to get it checked. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULJ8Vx79Vv4 Above link: Video about the American Academy of Pediatrics recommendations for child passenger safety; this is best practice!

Check your owners manual. All the latch anchor points are listed in all of ours. Not knowing the year doesn't help. You will want to look up the term "latch borrowing" as many cars and car seats alike do not allow for it (its the term the car safety tech used when they were inspecting my seat. Basically its using the 'outboard' [aka passenger and driver side] latch anchors for installing a car seat in the middle position). Just use the seat belt and belt lock out if necessary. Both seat belt and latch installation are safe. And if you have questions, contact car seat tech in your area. http://www.seatcheck.org/
