What kinda jobs can people behind the camera do?

What camera should I buy?

  • I'm currently enrolled as a photography major and I'm looking to buy a camera. I've mostly used Canons so far but I've tried a couple Nikons. I don't really have a preference. I'm wondering what people with more experience in camera shopping would suggest for me to use for things like internships and possible jobs that are coming my way. Thank you!

thansk you to Taylor who just saved me from typing 100 words...... if you want a beginners camera, go for the T3i and buy a 24-105mm f/4 if you want an intermediate camera, buy the Canon 60D or 7D with a 24-70mm f/2.8 if youb want a professional camera, buy the 5DMKIII or 1DX and a 24-70mm f/2.8

What camera do you shoot with now? You're going to need a lot more equipment than a basic DSLR - you'll need a sturdy tripod, an external flash w/ an off-camera cord, a color checker, a weatherproof carrying case, plenty of spare memory cards, a spare battery or two, an off-camera shutter release, blah blah blah. You'll also need Adobe Lightroom and maybe Photoshop. Don't worry about internships and jobs just yet; you have a lot to learn. A Nikon D3100 or D3200 or Rebel T3i should serve you well. For now, just get the 18-55 kit lens. Your school should have lenses and other accessories for you to use.
