How can I get my ex to talk to me again and possibly be friends after I said something ignorant that I regret?

My ex has stopped talking to me because I said something stupid and ignorant about some guy she met or he is her boyfriend. The stuff I said was out of jealousy and I feel bad and would like to be friends with her. Because of what I said she called me a heartless, disgusting, and that she doesn't want any further contact with me. The story is I made a bunch of assumptions about this guy or boyfriend and whatever he was and she no longer wants to speak to me. Should I just let it go?
