How to wash a graduation gown?

Graduation gown too small...?

• First of all I'm a plus size girl. Close to the beginning of this semester of college they measured me for a cap and gown for graduation. Since then I have lost about 20 pounds. I picked up my cap and gown today from the school and tried it on when I got home. It will barely zip. It is very tight through the hips and stomach area. A graduation gown is supposed to fit loosely. The graduation is in 2 days. I don't know if they ordered the wrong size or what, but surely I'm not the first plus size girl to graduate from college....I'm embarrassed and almost makes me want to skip graduation altogether. Any helpful suggestions? (besides lose some weight because I'm still working on that)

  I would ask the school. In my experience, graduation gowns can come in bigger sizes if you need them. I've seen the gowns in sizes up to an XXL for men. You could maybe get one from school or you can buy one online. If not, it is possible you can let it out, or put slits up the sides so it is roomier without totally shredding it. Good luck, P.S. Don;t skip your graduation! You only get one and you will regret it if you don't go. What you look like is really not as important as your accomplishment.
