How can i loose weight while trying to quit smoking cigarettes?

i'm trying so hard to quit smoking cigarettes. been smoking for over 40 years now. recently my niece sent me some nicoderm cq stop smoking patches . i havent smoked a cigarette in 3 days now, but the urge to smoke is so strong its driving me crazy. so i start eating like crazy and putting on weight in just 3 days. i dont want to give in to a relapse but i dont want to gain all this weight either. what can i do to keep the weight gain down while i try to quit. i can not do strenuous exercise(already tried, but it did not help anyway).

It may be very hard to diet while trying to get off cigarettes. It may be okay to gain a few pounds if that means you become smoke free. The benefits to your body from quitting smoking will far over shadow any detrimental affects from a few extra pounds. In a few weeks, after you're smoke free, you'll probably start to feel like exercising and you can go on a diet then. If you only put on a few pounds, you'll be able to get rid of it quickly through a little exercising and by eating a healthy diet. A few weeks of the South Beach diet would probably rid you of any extra pounds you pick up while quitting cigarettes. Good luck trying to quit smoking, it's never too late to make your life better.

Unfortunately lots of people end up gaining a little weight when they quit the cigs... but as you know so well by now, quitting the cigs in EXTREMELY important. It is the unfortunate truth of age that after a certain age you can't do much of anything - you can't have a drink, you can't have a smoke, you can't eat anything - so get used to doing absolutely nothing. There are electronic cigarettes that you can buy at most 711's or online at exhale.com. they look like cigarettes and when you exhale, you can see what looks like smoke but, it's only water vapor. They cost around $20.00 and you get 4 cartridges with it. A cartridge, which looks like the filter of a cigarette is equal to 2 packs of cigarettes.The end of the e cigarettes light up at the end so it looks like a burning cig. I've known several people who have quit smoking using them. The only thing that I personally didn't like was that it all feels like plastic but, it will satisfy your graving to physically smoke.
