Where should I go to college?

Where shall i go - sixth form or college?

  • i have 2 months left until i finish my exams and leave school but i am unsure about what to do after school. I applied for a college and have had my interview and have got a place and this college is the best college in my city. the school i go to is not very good but i am a clever person so i am getting good grades and most of my friends are going to the sixth form which is making me want to go there. There are also a lot of nice girls i would like to get to know more but i don't know what to do. The one girl i want to stay with didn't get into the college and is going to the sixth form but my mother wants me to go to the college because she thinks that the school i go to is rubbish. I know a few people going to college but I would rather go to the sixth form of my school which isn't great but i know i'll pass a levels. Help me please what should i do???????????

Do you know what i have the same problem! But i have decided to wait until the taster days- which you will have too (around June/July) where you will get a taste of life at said college/sixth form. This will help you make up your mind on where is best for you- where you feel most motivated and where you feel most at home. Hope i helped! :) Good luck.

Without any knowledge of what courses you're planning on taking, a helpful answer is difficult. There's no point going somewhere you're not going to do very well. Don't worry about what your friends are doing; it's your education that's important. However, if you really think you're going to be miserable without your friends then you might want to think it over more carefully as this is for two whole years. I'm at sixth form at the moment and that seems to be the place people take the more academic subjects whereas college is for more modern subjects.

College is very much more adult than your last year in school, and probably more than 6th form too. Don't follow the girl. College will be a new experience, in the company of 100's of young people feeling just as you do. You will pass your a levels at college too, an a level is an a level. Be a brave bunny, go to college, break out a little, and then you will be well prepared if you want to go to uni.

A-levels are a-levels and won't get easier wherever you go but you need to remember that this is your future and so you need to decide for yourself, it's where you want to go because your going to be studying there fort the next 2 years. If you want to go to the college I'd say go for it.

you say your school is rubbish, so im gonna assume that the sixth form will be as well. I know your gonna miss your friends but i think College would be the better choice, in college you get more freedom, and confidence, ive been to both sixth form and college, and from a shy girl i am now really confident, you meet new friends if you go to a different place and will boost you social abilitys, i found it easier when i got a job, to actually be able to do my job, and didnt feel i needed to be babied, to make sure im doing it right, in college, you do the work yourself, the teachers help you, but you have more indepence, i keep sort of jumping point to point here, sorry bout that, but yeah i think college is better for yourself
