Is genetics a hard college course?

Is bs-geology a hard course on college?

  • I'd like to take geology on college this coming school year and i want to know what subjects am i going to study and is Geology difficult? I want myself to be ready just incase its a hard one:D^.^

  • Answer:

I took a geology class this semester and it wasn't too bad. You study rocks, minerals, volcanos, geologic history, sedimentary rocks, igneous rocks, metamorphic rocks, streams, oceans, glaciers, evolution, tsunamis, weathering, rock sorting, permeability, soils, plate tectonics, density, rock composition, etc. Here's a few basics if you want to get a head start: Oceanic crust is denser than continental crust so when the two plates collide the oceanic one will slide under, or SUBDUCT (vocab word), under the continental. In your lab, if you pour acid on a rock and it bubbles it means that it has calcium in it. Felsic lava (iron) is lighter in color than mafic (magnesium). Glaciers experience plastic movement. Those are just a few basic facts you might run into. I could write more but that would take a bit too long lol. Anyways, it looks like a lot, but at my college we went through it and covered basic topics. We also had a nationally recognized professor so it's not likewe were slacking. Good luck!

Introductory geology is not a difficult course, but anything above that is going to require calculus and physics. So yes, geology is a difficult major, but it tends to have pretty good job opportunities and pay well.
