How do I become an English tutor?

Thirteen year old girl looking to become an English tutor - advice please!?

• Hi there! I'm thirteen and I like to think that I have a knack for English. I've always been interested in the subject and have been blessed with a fantastic education so that I feel very skilled at English. I am an Academic scholar at my school and would be able to also offer Maths or Science tuition if needed - however English is my main subject as I feel I am more advanced in the area and would therefore be better equipped to teach it. I would love the chance to tutor kids my age or younger English; I'd really like to help other children progress in English not just for the money, as many people do, but to actually help others excel. However, I'm not certain of how to start tutoring. In my village, there are a few children, however we don't really know our neighbours too well so I'm not sure whether posting leaflets through letterboxes would help any. Does anybody have any ideas as to what I could do to advertise my services either off or online? Thank you very much for reading this and any answers would be much appreciated! Anna

  In your situation, you have limited opportunities to do what you want to do. Consequently, you must approach the teachers at your school and inquire about any after-school lessons going on or any students who might require your services. Due to your age and the age of the students you'd be tutoring, yours and the student's parents/guardians will need to be involved to ensure a safe learning environment (you don't want to become somebody's rape victim). Your services will likely be voluntary at first, but for students who require hours/week, there could be money to be made. Good Luck:)
