How to create a matrix?

Please help for matrices/matrix in math? how to create equation from word problem?

  • 1. An object is launched off the top of building from a height of 250 feet. The position equation below gives the object's height h ( in feet) at time t in seconds). h=at^2 + vt + 250 Determine the value for a and v by using the given information. Show your work, including the corresponding system of equations and its solutions, Use either a matrix method or Cramer's Rule. H= 284 feet when t = 1 seconds, H= 194 feet when t=seconds 2. Joe owns a Honda Civic Hybrid vehicle; this car powered by gasoline electric technology and gets 49 miles per gallon in city driving and 51 mpg in highway driving. Joe drove 447 miles on 9 gallons of gas. How many miles were driven in city and how many were driven on highway? Show the appropriate system and its solution using matrix method or Cramer's Rule. 3. Orange juice, raisin bagel and a cup of coffee from Kelly's Koffee Kart cost a total of $5.35. Kelly post a notice announcing that, effective the following week, the price of orange juice will increase 25% and the price of bagel increase 20%. After the increase, the same purchase will cost $6.20 and orange juice will cost more $.50 than coffee. Write and solve a system of either 2 or 3 equations which will determine the price of each item before the increase. Use either a matrix method or Cramer's Rule. I know how to solve matrices thorough cramer's rule or matrix method but I am not getting how to make equations from this. Please help. this is due soon and I am working on since yesterday but now I need help please. Just write the equations for any question if you know any but all will be so awesome.

  • Answer:

    2. Let c represent the miles driven in the city in miles Let h represent the miles driven on the highway in miles We need to put mpg in gpm (gallons per mile) format: 49 mpg converts to 1/49 gpm or just gallons. Note that gpm × miles = gallons Gallons used: c(1/49) + h(1/51) = 9 → 51c + 49h = 23814 \\ uses only integers. Miles driven: c + h = 447 Now apply Cramer’s Rule to find c and h. Do not forget to check your result in the original equations and state your answer in complete sentence form. ----------------------------- I do not know if this helps you in the long run. Knowing how to setup a situation requires some knowledge of the general concepts. Here it is how do I get the number of gallons used. You need to know how to change miles per gallon to gallons per mile. Apparently you did not, now you do.
