Singing from my diaphragm and my throat?

Singing with your diapragm?

  • Does anyone know how to sing with your diaphragm? Is there any easy way to learn how to sing with your diapragm? Like pictures or powerpoints? Or any videos? I am really wanting to sing but I try singing the best I can with my diaphragm but my throat still hurts and it isn't supposed to hurt when singing with your diaphragm. Is your voice supposed to sound like opera when using your diaphragm? All I want to know is how to sing with the diaphragm :( it is so complicated! I don't see what I am doing wrong. Anyways thank you very much guys and much is appreciated. God bless <3 (:

  • Answer:

Well, the basics is that you should breath in and feel your stomach expand. The shoulders should never raise up while breathing inwards. When exhaling, the stomach should expand further because the diaphragm should push down to expel the air. Always feel the diaphragm giving support to the air and never drop it fully. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L08G7TVqtGg Here is a nice demonstration video, but I strongly recommend a teacher. Chances are, you're singing and pulling your chest up. Use more of the head voice to stop the throat from hurting. Also, make sure your jaw is not locked into place in the head register. A true opera singer expands their vocal range one note every two months or so.
