Tips for a job interview doing guest services?
-
I'm 18 years old and have my very first job interview today for a company called coast to coast events that does guest services for major events such as, concerts, sporting events, gold tournaments, festivals, charity events ect. I'm really excited but also very nervous because I have no job experience and because I am so young. What are some tips for having a good interview for doing guest services? What are some key words and qualifications I could use to make myself stand out from others applying? Also what are some common interview questions and how do i answer them correctly in a business-like manner? PLEASE HELP, I AM SO ANXIOUS

Answer:
GCFLearnFree.org has free tutorials on how to prepare for interviews: http://www.gcflearnfree.org/interviewskills It includes instructional text, informational graphics, examples, and even interactives for you to practice what you've learned/actually apply what you've learned. It discusses what you should wear to an interview and what questions you can anticipate being asked. It's best to wear professional clothes to an interview, even if the attire you would wear during employment is much more casual. Something fitting for an office environment, so dress slacks, dress shoes, a nice blouse/shirt/sweater, clean, neat hair and general clean and tidy appearance. If you need additional help for things like writing a resume or job searching, there are tutorials for that as well: http://www.gcflearnfree.org/career Hope it helps and Good Luck!

I would dress business casual, first of all. I would do some considerable research on the company, so you might have some questions for the interviewer (they LOVE someone who expresses true interest in the company). You'll probably need phone etiquette, and computer/internet skills. You might mention that even though you've never actually worked in the service industry, you realize how important it is for customers to get what they want, and that you would be willing to do some extra work to give them the best experience.

Make sure that you don't show how nervous you are. Because you'll be facing guests a lot of the time, they want to see an outgoing and enthusiastic personality. Smile a lot and ask questions. Just remember that this is all about personality and if you're a good fit for the company culture, you'll have a better chance at getting the job.
