What to do with old power supplies?

What do most pc gamers use for desktop power supplies?

  • Does anybody know what I should get for a desktop power supply? I built a computer and all I had was a 305 wat power supply so I had to use that for now. But I want to get a better video card and the card requires more more power. And I am running 4GB ram with Intel Core. How many watts do I really need to run a high end graphics card with 4gb ram and the processor? I found some for a good deal that are 500 watts and some are 600. Is it enough?

  • Answer:

600w I think will give you decent headroom, an Intel core what though would help. It wouldnt be good if your CPU bottlenecks the GPU.

That's far too vague, what model of Intel CPU and what graphics card are you looking at? A good 500-600W is enough to run most single GPU systems with overclocking headroom.

yes 500-600 W psu will be good and will run for almost all cards
