How do I run a fast mile?

If I run a mile at 5:09 how fast do you think I can run a 5k?

  • I'm 14 and run the mile at 5:09 and wondering what I could get on a 5k I am getting ready to run.

  • Answer:

If you could keep the pace, then under 16 minutes. Still, you will need to train to get to that. Though this page says 17:40, which is much more reasonable -- http://www.jeffgalloway.com/resources/gallracepredict.html

run the 3200 or 3000 to see where you stand. and it all depends on surfaces, like if your going up hills you will need recovery time.

I think that the Runner's World website has a calculator that can figure things like that out for you
