Is there a direct train from Manchester to Doncaster?

Does the train from Doncaster to Manchester stop at the Trafford Centre?

  • Also how much on average would the train cost?

  • Answer:

No, the Trafford Centre is west of Manchester city centre, and the train from Doncaster comes from the east. The Trafford Centre doesn't have a railway station anyway - take a Metrolink tram (Altrincham line) from Manchester Piccadilly station to Stretford tram stop, then switch to the shuttle bus to the Trafford Centre, or take a bus from Piccadilly Gardens (no. 250, I think). Off-peak return ticket from Doncaster to Manchester is £18.20, combined tram/shuttle bus return ticket from Piccadilly to Trafford Centre, maybe £4.

Doncaster - Manchester rail fares Anytime Return £30.10 Off Peak Return £22.60 Off Peak Day Return £20.40 For cheaper advance single fares head to tpexpress.co.uk and if you are have or are eligable for a 16-25 railcard you can get a 50% discount on advance single fares instead of the usual 34% here http://www.tpexpress.co.uk/train-tickets/student-discounts/ Advance fares start at £7.00 each way (50% off at the above link with a 16-25 railcard) also in addition to the bus/metrolink advice from an earlier poster also consider the X50 express bus from Piccadilly Gardens which runs every 15 minutes to the trafford centre but is quicker than the 250 as it is limited stop. Both buses terminate at the trafford centre bus station. If you do get the bus then make sure you buy a plusbus which is an add on ticket for buses available to buy with your rail ticket Manchester Plus bus costs £3.50 which is cheaper than a stagecoach dayrider at £3.90. see http://www.plusbus.info/manchester-plusbus-greater-manchester for more info Please note that Plusbus tickets are NOT valid on manchester metrolink. Trams are available from Piccadilly Station to Piccadilly Gardens to connect with the X50 bus but please be aware you must purchase a ticket before boarding these trams as there is a standard fare of £100 for not doing so. They do not have conductors, only revenue protection staff.
