Is this a good start for a story?

How to start a story off good?

  • Okay, I am writing a story and I have it all planned out, I'm just having a problem with the beginning. I don't wanna, like, get into the good action-y stuff right away (at least 2500) words in, but I don't wanna be super boring in the beginning either. The story is fantasy, and I need some ideas of how to start the story off without being too boring. Thanks ;)

An idea I see used a lot is just being in the middle of a point in the story, and then you go back and tell how you got there. Of course, in the beginning you must introduce characters, setting, and start your plot (before it gets too boring). Maybe you can come up with something heavy on the main character's mind? Something to really be thinking about, but just keep it moving. If you stay on one tiny detail for a paragraph it gets boring fast.

Get into the good action-y stuff right away. Otherwise you'll have to give your readers a reason to keep reading until it starts. Better you don't have a few chapters with nothing happening.

You should grab your readers attention by the first few pages. Make it interesting and have them wanting more
