How did they make plastic?

How do they make "Rubberized plastic"...such as "Pneumatic tires"?

  • what is plastic ? and how do they make "Rubber plastic"? and how long has been around? when starting making plastic in large quantities and WHAT ALLOWED IT?

  • Answer:

plastic is chains of a monomer, a monomer can be some chain with various substituents vinyl, polyethylene etc. these chains all have one thing in common they have a site of unsaturation which can generally be used to bond with another monomer. double bonds are just more susceptible to attack to displace the electron density around the molecule. so one monomer attacks another one creating large chains you can actually see called plastics and the reason is thermodynamics tires and rubberized plastic is an entirely different thing they don't teach about in school called formulation chemistry which is mixing different plastics/rubbers/components together (by melting) to get a certain trait. of course these are only done in a manufacturer lab since no schools have the money to create tons of random plastic/rubber
