Carbon to iodine bond is non polar...so it cant undergo nucleophilic subsitution?

  • i studied in my book that carbon to iodine bond is non polar then how can it undergo nucleophilic sn2 reactions..it cant undergo ths..?i am tooo confused of it...am i right?please help me out..Please post any reference links..if possible..

  • Answer:

electronegativity of carbon(2.55) and iodine (2.66) so bond between them can be regarded as non polar as electronegativity difference is very small....now for sn2 reaction there should be a very good leaving group or a weak base as I- is a weak base,so it can undergo sn2 reaction can you type the entire paragraph or send the file at my e-mail....add additional details
