How do I get a little business started?

So I've applied for jobs everywhere and I can't get one. I read this article about how this girl who loved to bake started her own part time business and made about $200 - $300 a month. I would LOVE to do that because I love to bake also but I have no clue how to get started. I don't just want to bake a cake and tell someone to pay me so how do I get started? Any advice would help! Thanks! :)
