Is the NatWest Adapt Account any good?

Can i purchase things (WOW) online with a natwest adapt (under 18) bank account?

  • Well i wanted a game but the only way of getting it was going though the LONG process of getting a bank account. So i did, i now have everything, my pin, card, details. But i tried to get a game.. "Your credit card has been declined, you have not been charged. Please ensure your bank allows international transactions, you are using a valid credit card, have funds and try again" Now as i was opening the account i put £10 into it, this game was only around £8. I don't really understand people told me i could buy things online with it... Please help..

    Is it a Visa? If it says it's a Debit Card or Credit Card you should be fine to buy online, however some companies don't accept certain types, usually Visa Electron, Solo or American Express. Check what cards they accept and see if it matches the one you have, if your card just says Cash Card then you can't use it to do anything online. Should definitely work then, check with your bank, it could be because it's an under 18 account.

my daughter is 17 and has one of these accounts she is able to buy thing on line and does so regularly. are you sure that the game was not an 18? if it was then if it detected your card was an under 18 one then it may have declined it. have you activated the card by calling the bank if this was required. Apart from this i cant think of any reason, go to your branch and tell them u are having aproblem they should be able to sort it out for u.

Hi, it will depend heavily on whether or not you are trying to buy the EU or US version of the game many UK banks will not accept payments to US websites unless you have specified to the bank that you wish to do this however when they say "international" they mean mainly Europe so that could be your problem, However if you are trying to purchase the EU version of the game and it is not letting you, make sure your not buying the EU version of the game from an American website the only other thing i can think of is that you might have an online purchase block on your account so you will have to use your telephone and ring your bank and ask them to lift it if there is one. Those are the only things i can think of, Hope this helps :) edit- due to your additional details i would say that it very likely that the is a block on your account for online purchases only way to lift it is to ring your bank and speak to an adviser who will be able to help you.
