how can I integrate slim framework in cakephp?

Is CodeIgniter Transferable to CakePHP?

  • I am currently recruiting for a Junior PHP Developer on behalf of a client. This client uses CakePHP as their framework of choice, they have asked me to only consider candidates that have CakePHP experience. I have tracked down an excellent candidate who lives locally and has everything they are looking for but his framework experience has been with CodeIgniter and not CakePHP, He knows CodeIgniter inside out and claims he could pick up a new framework in no time at all..... So my question is, how easy would it be for my candidate to transfer his skills???

  • Answer:

CodeIgniter and CakePHP are quite similar. Both of them are used for object oriented programming, both of them supports MVC pattern. But... There are some big differences between them. CodeIgniter is more likely used for the small projects, when CakePHP is used for the bigger projects. CodeIgniter has some very nice documentation and online support community which makes this framework very good for beginners. In CodeIgniter you can build a simple website in few hours, when in CakePHP it could take about few days. CakePHP is more complicated, it is hard to understand how everything works. Also the MVC pattern of this framework is very strict. CakePHP is more difficult and complicated, harder to understand, but if your developer managed to master the CodeIgniter, he will manage to master the CakePHP. My advice would be to hire him.
