How can I get Dynamic Domain Name Server for free for my home CCTV?

  • I recently purchased a CCTV system for my home. In order to view the cameras online I was told I need a Dynamic Domain Name Server . Is there any way I can get one for free?

    I installed like 5~6 different brand and non of them require a DNS server. What you need is a static ip address. The IP address is used to connect to your home network You just hook up the camera and do the port forward on your router. just follow the instruction and you should be able to do it easily. We just hired a nanny so we will be installing a few nanny cam too

As you know, what DDNS does is update the DNS records when your IP changes. Luckily for you there are hundreds of these services, some paid, some free. What you choose depends on whether you have your own domain name or not. Some will give you a subdomain like yourname.ddnscompany.com and others will let you use your own domain name, some will handle both. I love (legally) free stuff and use DNSExit - http://www.dnsexit.com/ but there are others that I could have used.... DollarDNS dyndns.dk DynUp FreeDNS Hurricane Electric MiniDNS OpenDNS.be PowerDNS Sitelutions Static Cling XName My choice was bit limited because I run a web server with several sites with multiple domain names that all needed updating. Your should be a much wider choice. When I was looking for my ideal DDNS I looked at around 200 of them.
