Why won't my Time Warner Cable remote work?

My Time Warner Cable remote control volume doesn't work. Does anyone know how to fix it?

  • My dad got us a new remote from the store today because the old one was losing the letters on the buttons. He got us a new one and i tried to connect it but everything is working except the volume!!! The product number is UR5U-8780L and its called a CLIKER-5. Please help!!!

  • Answer:

Here may be the problem. The remote is trying to control the cable box. It needs to do this for changing the channels and all other functions except volume. The volume control button MUST control the TV set. A TWC cable box remote is programmed to automatically switch to the TV setting when the volume control button is pushed and back to cable for all other buttons. Your new remote is not doing this you must do it manually. Push the TV button on the remote then the volume control. IF you have set up the remote to control the TV set that will work. Change it back to Cable for all other functions. Look online on in the manual and see if it has a special setting to automatically switch to the TV setting for volume like the TWC remote had.
