How do I reset my settings?

How Do I Reset My Toshiba Laptop To Factory Settings When I Have Forgotten My Administrative Password?

  • My new laptop broke recently and I need to use my old Toshiba Satellite with Vista installed. However I have forgotten the administrative password needed to log in. There are no valuable files on the computer so I want to restore it to its factory settings and load it with XP, although I cannot find a way to reset the computer without first putting in the password. There are a lot of guides that say how to restore the computer to factory settings, although all that I have found require putting in the administrative password at some point, or assuming there is none. Can someone give me a step-by-step of how to wipe my computer without knowing the administrative password?

  • Answer:

Just press F10 as it's starting up.  This will access the recovery partition and restore factory settings.  Either that, of boot with the recovery discs that came with it, or that you created when you first got it.

For free tool, try the Ophcrack, but it would require some computer skills. While for some affordable tool, Windows Password Recovery Tool 3.0 would be the most suitable tool for you, it is even simple to use for the new beginners. Choose the most suitable tool for yourself. Good Luck.
