What is the best format for a camcorder?

What camcorder is best for recording in AVI and not a format that some pc's dont reongnise ?

    I doubt it's your computer that can't recognize your camcorders format. You simply need an editing program that recognizes all camcorder file formats. I am using pinnacle studio 14HD, I was previously using pinnacle studio 11 and it did not recognize my HD camcorder and my camera that has mov. An upgrade fixed all that and now I can edit with all of my cameras and camcorders. I own a canon A570IS and a canon G10 and an Olympus c 5000. A Canon Elura minidv and a canon FS100 flash drive camcorder as well as a Wolverine hd camcorder. One editing program can deal with all these different formats. I have that program on my HP vista laptop and my Dell XP desktop.

I use Canon Zr MiniDV tape camcorders, Use Pinnacle studio's import feature to get the videos from the camcorders into a local hard drive, where it save these files as AVI files.
