Where can I find tap dance in Queens?

How many years should I take Dance lessons if I want to open my own dance studio?

  • Okay I know this is a odd question but I kind of have a odd situation. I LOVE dance soooooooooooooooooooo much! I started danceing when I was little but when we moved I couldnt find a dance studio to continue dancing. Well I have taken about 4 years of dance but I have a natural talent for it. I have taken ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip hop, and even gymnastics. When taking gymnastics almost every judge comented on how well I danced and how it was very good and moving. I really am really considering majoring in Dance in college then later open my own Dance studio but Idk if thats a good idea because I havent taken it all my life. If I dont major in Dance I plan on majoring in Photogerphy which I love also but i am just exploring my options

  • Answer:

It is not as much about time/talent as it is about skill and technique. A major in dance will help you hone your skills and will give you a good idea of what you need to work on. Try teaching at a few studios before you decide to open your own studio, this will give you an idea if you enjoy teaching. Good luck!!

Other answers

You should consider double majoring in business and dance. Owning a studio is hard work and a lot of business knowledge is needed along with talent. The more classes you can get in before, the better. It would also be smart to find a studio to hire you as a teacher so you get some teaching experience under your belt. Good luck!
