How personality is a component in many workplace conflicts?

Do religious or spiritual people tend to have a particular personality type?

  • Okay so I have a lot of familiarity with the Big Five personality domains - Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism. So much empirical evidence supports the notion that humans can be characterized into one of these five; however, there is a component to human beings, the spiritual component, that seems to not be acknowledged in this framework. Do religious or spiritual people tend to have a particular personality type? I cannot see how spirituality would fit into any of these 5.

  • Answer:

Hmm... a challenge to consider. In my opinion, religious types seem to fit into the 'agreeableness' and/or 'openness' categories. Not necessarily because they're agreeable or open all the time- far from it in some cases- but because they are open and agreeable to the idea of the existence of a higher power. However, this may not always be the case. It all depends on how (or if) someone discovered religion, turned to it out of desperation, or was raised with their beliefs.

The personality I would describe for the majority of them doesn't fall or fit into any of those "domains."
