Do I need to be a nursing declared major at a university to get a BSN?

• I have a question regarding nursing school and the prerequisites to get into a nursing program. Currently I am graduation a local community college with an associates of science and I am supposed to transfer to a state university for biology, but I changed my major to nursing last minute. I don’t know if I should just finish my prerequsites at another junior college and then transfer to a nursing school or should I just go to a State school and try to get into the prerequisite courses and then apply for the BSN there?? Help. PLEASE. also, do I need a BSN to apply for nursing school?

  The BSN degree is what you earn at the end of nursing school. You don't need a previous degree to get in to the nursing major. You'd probably be better off going to the school that has your BSN program and finishing your prerequisites there, because schools usually tend to give admissions preference (into the BSN program) to the students who have been earning credits there already and aren't transferring in. Not that it's impossible to transfer in with prerequisites complete. . . every school is different. I strongly suggest meeting with an academic advisor at the school with the BSN program and review their admissions criteria with them and decide the route to take.
