How do i open my videos from a dvd -rw disc on my computer?

Will a PS3 play a DVD+R disc?

  • Hi, I was just wondering if a PS3 will play a DVD+R disc? What I'm doing is putting youtube videos on the disc, I tried to burn the video to the disc using Windows Media Player, but it wouldn't work. I think I need a DVD+RW Disc to do that. (the side of my laptop says; compact disc rewritable. RW dvd+rewritable. And dvd multi recorder. Does that mean I need to use DVD+RW Disc?) Anyway I figured out that I can send the file to the disc, and I tried to play it on my PS2 and it wouldn't work. And it wouldn't work on my dvd player either. It works on my computer, and on my mom's computer. So I wanted to know if it will work on my friend's PS3, because all of this is for her, not me. Or would I have to download some kind of dvd converter for it to work on her PS3? Thanks! =)

    Yes it will ! I play them in my PS3 all the time but make sure the disc has been finalized otherwise it won't play !

First, you should be able to use any standard writable CD or DVD, but *not* DL (Dual Layer, aka 8.5 GB) -- unless it also has DL on it somewhere. As for playing on a PS3, *only if* the videos are in a format the PS3 can use. If you just copy / burn them to the disc and they're not the right format, the PS3 won't be able to use the disc. Your best option is to convert them using a converter program and put them on a USB drive formatted as FAT32. From there, they can be played on or copied to the PS3. That way there's absolutely no compatibility issues.
